The Halifax TO Toronto itinerary

Day 1 - Halifax Pick-Up and Journey to Peggy’s Cove

WELCOME TO CANADA! Before heading off on our coast to coast adventure, we’ll do some quick intros to get to know our new friends and will set off to the local shops where we’ll be stocking up on food for our delicious home cooked meals. We’ll then head west of Halifax to the legendary Peggy’s Cove lighthouse, where we’ll enjoy our first lunch as a new crew and will have plenty of time to explore the beautiful cove. We’ll have our ceremonial touching of the Atlantic Ocean here, which will make our ceremonial touching of the Pacific Ocean 30 days later that much more special. A short drive will bring us to our first campsite where we’ll set up camp and kick back for the night. Watch the beautiful sunset with your new pals and enjoy a drink (or 2 or 3).

Day 2 - Cape Breton Island

From Peggy’s Cove, we’re going to head East to Cape Breton Island - the island of breathtaking trails, rugged cliffs, and incredible scenery. We’ll have a couple of pit stops en route to our campsite, where we’ll explore some of the hidden gems of the island. Once we’re all settled at camp, we’ll head to Cape Breton’s famous skyline trail for a delicious sunset - be sure to keep your eyes out for whales here!

Day 3 and 4 - Prince Edward Island

On the morning of day 3, we’ll be taking a scenic ferry across the St. Lawrence River from Nova Scotia to cute lil’ Prince Edward Island. We’ll take the afternoon to explore charming Charlottetown and will have plenty of free time to enjoy some breweries and local food, after which we’ll get settled at our Cavendish campsite. The following day, we’ll get to explore the red sand beaches of the Island, and all you Anne of Green Gables fans can visit the Green Gables Heritage Place. For our final PEI dinner, we’ll be heading for a famous lobster supper to experience a true East Coast seafood FEAST! Included Activity:

Optional Activity:

Day 5 and 6 - Fundy National Park

From Prince Edward Island, we’ll be crossing over the confederation bridge - Canada’s longest bridge - to reach New Brunswick. New Brunswick is home to the highest changing tides in the world, and over the next two days we’ll be exploring this incredible region of Canada. We’ll be watching the insane tides at Hopewell Rocks, where we’ll get to experience the rocks both at high tide, and low tide (when we get to actually walk on the ocean floor!) This is a crazy surreal experience and definitely one for the books!! We’ll also be adventuring through some of Fundy National Park’s best trails and taking some time to explore the cutest town of all towns - Alma, an absolute fan-favourite! Included Activity:

Optional Activity:

Day 7 - Mont Sainte-Anne

From Fundy National Park, we’ll be travelling north to Quebec! Here, we’ll be staying in the ski resort region of Mont Sainte-Anne where we’ll have the option of taking on a Via Ferrata climb of the Sainte-Anne canyon. For those of you new to Via Ferrata (I am too!!) it's a sweet blend of hiking and climbing to give you a new perspective on some beautiful scenery. If you’re ready to take on that adventure, then SWEET! If not, feel free to hike around the Sainte-Anne region or just kick back and chill out at our campsite. Optional Activity:

Day 8 and 9 - Montreal

For days 8 and 9, we’ll be exploring beautiful Montreal. Montreal is the world’s second largest French-speaking city in the world and offers visitors European vibes right here in Canada. We’ll have two full days to explore all that Montreal has to offer - from the beautiful old town, to the top of Mont Royal, to indulging on fresh Montreal bagels, to understanding and appreciating the art of Canadian poutine, and finally to experiencing the city’s incredible nightlife. Bonus: we’ll be staying at M Montreal, which was voted the #1 hostel in the world by HostelWorld and is an attraction in itself.

Day 10 - Ottawa River

From Montreal, we’ll be heading west to Canada’s capital - Ottawa! We’ll be stopping at Canada’s famous Parliament Hill as we head to our campsite on the Ottawa River. We’ll be staying at Owl Rafting (which holds a very special place in our founder Lisa’s heart), as it’s likely the greatest and most underrated spot in Central Canada. Today will be a chill day where we get to enjoy all the amazing facilities of Owl Rafting’s waterfront - kayaking, canoeing, playing volleyball, slipping n’ sliding AND enjoying gourmet meals prepared by the oh so lovely staff at Owl. This will be a day and night to just GET LOOSE.

Day 11 - White Water Rafting on the Ottawa River

White. Water. Rafting. On the Ottawa River. Yes. Yes. YES! This day will have you yelling “WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE!!” for 99.9% of the day. We hope you’re ready for an adrenaline rush, because on day 11 we’ll be embarking on a day-long, thrilling white water rafting journey on the Ottawa River (one of the best adventure rivers in the world!!). Experience the rapids of the river alongside an experienced professional and all of your FML buddies and enjoy an unreal BBQ lunch on board Owl’s pontoon boats. This will be offered as an additional excursion, but we HIGHLY recommend this experience! For those that choose to stay back, you’ll get to kick-back, relax, and enjoy all of the wonderful facilities at Owl Rafting’s waterfront resort. Optional Activity:

Day 12 - Niagara Falls

On day 12, we’ll be making our way to one of the seven natural wonders of the world - NIAGARA FALLS! This is one of the main places that has put Canada on the map, and it’s definitely a sight you have to see first hand. Here, we’ll be exploring the sweet area of Clifton Hill and we’ll be taking a ride on the famous Maid of the Mist and will be going right under the falls (To all you Office fans, this is where Pam and Jim got married!!) Included Activity:

Day 13 and 14 - Toronto

Welcome to the 6 - where you’re most likely going to bump into Drake, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes AND the Weeknd all at the same time! Okay, this likely won’t happen, BUT you’re still bound to fall in love with the city during our 2 days here. Together, we’ll head up the CN tower, and the absolute thrill-seekers of our crew will have the opportunity to do the CN Tower Edge Walk. If the stars align and the Blue Jays home games (Canada’s one and only Major League Baseball team) match up with our itinerary, we’ll get rowdy in the stands cheering for our team! For those with specific Toronto must-sees and do’s, we’ll have plenty of free time so that everyone can enjoy what the city has to offer. We’ll have a ton of recommendations for you to make the most out of your visit to the 6! This stop will unfortunately be the end of your East Coast adventure, and we’ll make sure to make our final destination together a memorable one. Here, we’ll say our goodbyes and reminisce on the incredible 2 weeks we just shared together before the rest of the FML family continues their cross-Canada journey by heading west in the direction of Vancouver.
